Standards

Each standard is defined as either a guideline or success criteria and outlined in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Each standard includes a description, link to the WCAG page reference, and A, AA, and AAA criteria. The standards included in this worksheet reference WCAG and UDL (univeral design for learning) best practices and have been adapted and modeled in a format for faculty and administrative builders for Portland State Unviersity working within the learning management system Desire2Learn.

• Text alternatives are provided for all non-text content

• An alternative format is provided for time-based media

• • Content can be presented using a variety of methods without losing information or structure

  • Color is not used as the sole method for conveying information

  • • Users have the ability to pause/stop/hide video

    • Course can be navigated from a keyboard (not only a mouse or track pad)

    • • Students are notified about timed assignments and are allotted time adjustments on a case-by-case basis

      • Content is not designed in a way to cause seizures

      • Site, course, or module uses consistent language, navigation, and structure

        • Content must be readable and understandable

        • Content and pages appear and operate in predictable ways

        • Content must be robust enough to used by a variety of technologies and assistive technologies
