Flashing and blinking content can be distracting and may have the possibility to cause seizures.

Guideline 2.3

A

  • Online content does not contain any items that flash more than three times in one second

  • Any moving, blinking, scrolling, or auto-updating information provides a mechanism for the user to pause/stop/hide the element

AA

  • There are no AA requirements for this criteria item

AAA

  • Online content does not contain any items that flash

  • Interruptions can be postponed or suppresed by the user

    • When an authenticated session expires, the user can continue the activity without loss of data after re-authenticating

    • Timing is not an essential component to the activity or assignment. An example would be to click a moving target in ten seconds or fail. This would present a barrier to success to students using assistive technologies
