Madrid

The capital of Spain is truly a world-class city. We were prepared for lots of traffic, pushy locals, and hot weather. Of course, we received some of that, but were pleasantly suprised at the livability of this place. From the all-night restaurants and coffee bars to the Prado museum, we experienced patient and helpful people in Madrid.

This is the main park in Madrid. Here locals can be seen lounging, eating, boating, and being very amorous. Anything to beat the heat!

Just outside of Madrid lies an area called El Escorial. It is the final resting place of all the royalty of Spain. This is a picture of the crypt itself, four stories below ground level.

Madrid has the largest bull ring in all of Spain. Bull fights are held on Sundays during the summer months. We were fortunate enough to be there at the right time.

This is Isabel, our guide for our time in Spain. Without her presence, the trip would not have been the same. We will remember her for her knowledge of Spanish art and history, her wit, and most of all, her confidence in the supremacy of the Spanish people!
