Segovia lies just north of Madrid. It's main attraction is a Roman aqueduct built around the year 100 BC. Although it is now only used once a year, the modern portion of the city has built up around it.
The aqueduct is built of immense blocks of granite. It rises approximately sixty meters above the city at its highest point. Incredibly, it was built without the aid of any mortar! |
