Search  Tools

Google (this is one of the best).  Google searches more sites more quickly in order to bring you the most relevant results.

Dogpile (a great multi-search engine).  Dogpile is supported by numerous search engines.  Go ahead and let Fido fetch your subject for you.

Vivisimo was voted the top search engine by ZDNet.  Try it to see where it ranks with you.

Ask Jeeves (good for general information).  Just type in your question and Jeeves, the world's first Internet butler, is at your service.

SearchShots is a new type of visual search engine that provides preview screenshots of every site.

Lycos uses web guides to show categories to help with your search.

FastSearch claims to "enable information on demand."  Fast provides scalable searches and real-time filtering (whatever that means).  Try it and see if it works for you.

Others: Hotbot, AltaVista, Excite, Yahoo
