FOR STARTERS

Let’s get this in our heads: Sustainable is not expensive. There are big name brands that promote the “cheap” products they make. However, while yes it costs less for us, someone else is having to pay for it. That payment is in the form of suffering from long labor hours, low wages, and child labor. Sustainable is not too expensive, regular brands are too cheap. Sustainable labels will source their production differently. Products are made in smaller batches, with better, more durable materials. This not only enhances the lifetime of the product for you, but also does not exploit workers to get you something at a way smaller price.

TO DO

Choose ethical brands: Buy from brands who treat people, animals, and environment the best that they can. Do your research. Is there a sustainable policy on their website, and are these concrete actions? Does the brand consistently act responsibly? Do they talk about the people who make their products in a meaningful way? If yes, you’re good to go! See the list below for our favorite brands!

Buy smart: Like we mentioned earlier, it’s better to buy less things less often. It’s better for the environment and better for your wallet. Before you buy something new, ask yourself a few questions first: Do you need it? Does it fit well and feel good to wear? Will you wear it many times? Does it fit with your style? Does it make you really happy to be wearing it?
