Consider this question:

There is a range of jobs from something simply to make a living to those that are on a career path. When considering a jobs you have to balance the job you really want vs. the job you can get.

From our department's point of view, we want you to get a job that will:

• provide an ethical living wage
• continue developing your skills and knowledge
• provide opportunities for promotion
• gives you the resources to make a positive environmental impact
• is satisfying and rewarding for you

Consider if there are other factors you would look for in a job (such as location, foreign travel, field work, etc.). Which of these are mandatory (for you) and which are optional benefits of the job.

Consider which of these points and how you might make tradeoffs to get your first job and how you set a career path to eventually attain you optimal job.
