Q: How has your understanding of the relationship between design and human experience changed over the year? Where do you see class, race, gender, sexual orientation, and ability being impacted by design and vice versa?
A: Before UNST I knew very little about the relationship between design and the human experience. I have learned that one doesn't happen without the other. People are effected by the design choices every day. Some people are not able to use certain products because of diversity that arises. When people are outside the Universal Design Principals then they don't seem to matter, which intern effects how they feel about design. People should be able to use any product they want and limitations should not be placed on people because of it. I see class, race, gender, sexual orientation and ability being impacted by design everywhere. People are blind to the diversity that our world today faces. People are excluded for establishments because of the above criteria. People are also not able to buy things because their social class doesn't allow it. People should be able to do as they please when it comes to design.
