STRING QUARTET #2 IN D BY ALEXANDER BORODIN.
a musical performance with visual annotations
Borodin's String Quartet #2 is a marvelously melodic work full of familiar
tunes, many of which have been adapted for the popular musical "Kismet."
As a lifelong chemist, Borodin's successful pursuit of two professional
careers in the apparently disparate areas of chemistry and music has always
been a fascination and an inspiration to scientists. This popular piece
has been recorded numerous times, including EMI compact disc #CDC 7 47795
2, featuring the Borodin String Quartet: Mikhail Kopelman and Andrei Abramenkov,
violins, Dmitri Shebalin, viola, and Valentin Berlinsky, cello.
