Day Two:
Stop 8: South Slough Sanctuary
Lynn took us on a hike to look at the
plants in the South Slough Sanctuary, which
is an estuary. As you walk, you drop
through coastal forest, into a freshwater
marsh filled with skunk cabbage (picture
below), then into salt marsh. On the way
back, you climb onto a viewing platform
surrounded by wild rhododendrons (see
picture lower right). On the way from stop
7 to stop 8, Joe decided to air his sock.
