Leaf

Leaf

Leaves originated in the game Super Mario Bros. 3, where they turn Mario into Raccoon Mario. As such, Mario or Luigi will grow raccoon ears and a raccoon tail. This tail has many functions. Mario or Luigi can descend slowly by wagging the tail; he can briefly fly instead if he fills the Power Meter (by running) beforehand. Mario or Luigi can also tail whip to hit Blocks and enemies.

Mario Land 2 Carrot

Mario Land two

A Carrot, also known as Bunny Ears, is an item that appears in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. It transforms Mario into Bunny Mario, but Wario also uses it to transform into Bunny Wario. Bunny Mario has rabbit ears coming out of his hat. When Mario is in the air, holding A Button can slow his descent, and repeatedly mashing it can lead to a quasi-fluttering of the ears, which lets him hover in mid-air. However, holding A Button while on the ground

Mario 3 Leaf

Mario Three

Super Leaves first appear in the game Super Mario Bros. 3. The item transforms Mario or Luigi into Raccoon Mario or Raccoon Luigi, respectively. If they run for long enough, the Power Meter becomes full. When this happens, they can jump and fly by tapping A Button. They can also float down slowly by tapping A Button. If they hit B Button, they will swing their tails, which can hit ? Blocks and enemies.

Mario World Cape

Mario World

The Super Leaf was going to appear in Super Mario World, but it was abandoned. The final game introduces a similar power-up, the Cape Feather. When Mario or Luigi grabs one, it turns them into Caped Mario/Luigi. As Caped Mario or Caped Luigi, the player can hover in the air, similar to the Super Leaf's effect in Super Mario Bros. 3. The flight of the Cape Feather, however, lasts as long as the player keeps hovering.
