Biography

Emily Young, Professor Emerita at Portland State University, has a Bachelor of Design degree and a Masters in Art degree
from the University of Florida. Her art specialization is painting and drawing. She is a visual art education specialist
who has taught professionally at all levels (K-12, undergraduate, and graduate school). She is known for her
high quality of teaching. Since 1980 Professor Young has added digital painting to her professional work.
Her current work is mixing traditional art media with the digital media. She is considered a pioneer in digital painting
and has been very successful in this new art form. She has had numerous one person shows and has been included
in many juried exhibitions. Her work is included in collections throughout the United States, Europe, and Korea.
