On the way back, we went straight upslope from the upper end of the
rock, following the trees to a point to the right and about twenty feet
above the lowest part of the notch that leads onto the bench. There
are some rock faces that are a bit precarious, but for the most part it
is loose rock, with thin grass and short shrubs. The slope is steep,
but it isn't difficult to find a way past the precarious places - about
halfway up, we found it was better to cross through the trees to the right
side. This is one of the places where we were really glad to have
trekking poles!
