Benjamin McCord Woodcock was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He attended the Universty of Oregon from which he earned concurrent Bachelor’s Degrees in Art (Painting and Photography) Spanish, as well as a minor in Business Administration.
Ben is employed by one of the finest craft breweries in the state, Deschutes Brewery, where he's had the opportunity to work on numerous illustration and design projects. Ben is the resident chalk artist at DB, and has executed several other illustrative chalk works in Portland.
In the Fall of 2012, Ben enrolled in the Graphic Design program at Portland State University. He participated in PSU’s student work showcase, Be Honest, in the Spring of 2013. He has been fortunate to partake in PSU-sponsored workshops with the likes of Bay-Area letterer and Friends of Type co-founder Erik Marinovich and PDX icon wizards Always With Honor. Ben has studied under the teachings of local design legends Nicole Lavelle, Will Bryant, Josh Kenyon of Jolby & Friends, Jason Sturgill, and Kate Bingaman-Burt.
Ben can usually be found at the coffee shop, burrito stand, or brewpub (in no particular order). He is a Trail Blazers fanatic. Fa-na-tic.
Ben aims to spend a portion of the 2014 Summer in London for a series of studio/museum visits, workshops, and collaborative sessions with students from UAL (University of the Arts - London). Ben is anticipating a Fall 2014 graduation date.
