DEMs

If you are going to use the slope data for this assignment, you need to know how it is generated.

1) Go the the Oregon GIS page for DEMs.

2) Get a DEM, the Portland quad is 45122 E 6 (you could also check out http://ucs.orst.edu/~fosterry/demclick/oregondems.html)

3) unzip it, and change the extension to .dem

4) make sure the Spatial Analyst extension is loaded.

5) Choose Import Data Source and select USGS DEM

6) choose what name and directory

7) Uh oh, what projection is it in????

8) Just do a slope in place, so you know what the process is, and document it. Then you can use the big slope coverage in your Assignment 3!
