Field Trip Extra Credit Project.

Return to class homepage.

Geological features in the western Blue Mountains and adjacent areas of central Oregon will be observed on a 2-3 day field trip sponsored by the Geology department, and you can earn extra credit for G202 by attending and writing a minimum 2-page typed summary (10 font type, 1 inch margins) about what you thought about the trip.  In your write-up, be sure to include what you most liked and most disliked about the trip.  You can also talk about whether this trip is something you would recommend for geology students.   You can attend either by registering for 1 credit (G200, CRN 61272) or by paying $65 directly to the Geology office.

Trip details
Dates of field study: Friday, Saturday, Sunday May 16-18. Bus leaves 2 PM Friday from Broadway and Mill Street.  Return about 5:30 PM Sunday.  You will be camping at Shelton Wayside on Friday and Saturday nights.  Regardless  of whether you enroll for 1 credit or attend without course credit, you will need to sign up in the Geology Department for cooking groups (5-6 persons) as soon as possible.  Additional information and an equipment list can be obtained in the Geology Department (CH 17).  No private vehicles are allowed.  Instructors will be Tom Lindsay (tcl@pdx.edu), Mackenzie Keith, and Ryan McKenna.

This assignment is worth up to an additional 2% of your total score for the class (i.e., a quarter-grade level).

NOTE: The other extra credit field trip option mentioned in the syllabus (day trip to the Cascades) is no longer available. The instructor has told me the class is already full.
