Course information

  • No class on May 15.  We managed to get through all the material needed for Exam 2 (which will be held 5/20/08) ahead of schedule, so there will be no class on May 15.  You can use this time for studying instead.   Exam 2 will focus on material that was covered after Exam 1 and like the first exam will consist of multiple choice questions, so bring your scantrons and number 2 pencils. (Posted 5/14/08).
  • Key found outside classroom.   I retrieved a car key and chain that was left in the hallway from outside our classroom 5/20/08 and turned it in to Lost and Found.  If this is your key, contact PSU's Lost & Found office.  (Posted 5/21/08)
  • Correction to Final Exam time.  The syllabus has an error regarding the time of the final exam.  The correct time is from 10:15-12:05 on Thursday, June 12.  This will occur in our normal classroom.

Kiger Gorge, which cuts into Steens Mountain in SE Oregon, is a good example of glacial topography.  Note the U-shaped profile of the valley, which is characteristic of glacially-carved valleys and unlike the V-shaped profiles poduced by stream erosion.

Kiger and other features at Steens Mountain indicate that large glaciers were once present in Southeast Oregon, now an arid part of the state.
