F: under 40% (29 students)
The percentage cutoffs used for this grading scale will remain constant
for the other exams and the final grades in the course.
Last year's exam on this material had an average of 48%, which prompted
me to make the following comments - they still apply:
These scores are not good!
The material in these chapters was difficult, but you will need to be able
to deal with these concepts in order to move on into our biochemical chapters.
I urge you to review Chapters 9 & 10 again, perhaps using the reaction
mechanisms software that is now available in the Learning Lab, as well as
