I moved to Portland OR in 1982 to attend Reed College. I graduated in 1986 with a BA in Mathematics and spent the next four years working as an analyst in the whole sale electric utility industry. In 1990 I quit my job, spent the summer rock climbing and began working in the entertainment industry. I worked as a lighting designer, stage manager, carpenter and grip for small theatres and dance companies, major festivals, corporate tradeshows, televised special events and rock concerts. I've been a member of IATSE Local #28, the Portland chapter of the international stagehands union since 1994, and spent several years as a Department Head at the Memorial Coliseum and Rose Garden Arenas here in Portland. Since 1996 I've been a full time graduate student in the Systems Science program at Portland State University.
