FIELD TRIP INFORMATION

WHAT: You can earn up to 2% extra credit for G201 by attending a field trip that will be conducted by the Geology Department and writing a report (see syllabus for details).

WHEN: The field trip will start promptly at 2 PM on Friday, and end approximately at 6 PM on Sunday, May 18.  You will need to arrive early to pack your supplies.

WHERE: The field trip will go to Central Oregon (the John Day area).  A bus will take you there.

FOOD AND CAMPING: You will need to sign up for a cooking group in the Geology Department office in CH17.  These food groups will arrange menus, purchase food, and cook for Friday night dinner, breakfast and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday.  Lunches for Saturday and Sunday will need to be packed at breakfast time. Your food group will need to bring a camp cook stove and cooking fuel that can be stored separately.  The trip will involve camping, so you need to bring tents, sleeping bags, warm clothing, flashlights, etc.

HOW: To attend the field trip, you have two options:

1. Register for G200 (1 credit).  Pick up a syllabus available in the Geology office, CH 17.

2. Pay an activity fee of $55 to attend the field trip, payable to the Geology Department.  Give your payment to the secretary in the Geology office, CH 17, who accepts various forms of payment and will give you a receipt.  Pick up the syllabus available in CH 17.

Regardless of which option you choose, YOU MUST SIGN UP FOR FOOD GROUPS.  You should also pick up a syllabus for the G200 class, which gives more details about the field trip and what you need to bring.  If you want to go, you should decide soon, mainly because it takes time to arrange the food groups and to arrange for the transportation.
