Re: Review of the strategic plan for technology

At the end of last academic year, Teaching and Learning with Technology Roundtable (TLTR) was asked by Provost Mary Kay Tetreault and (then) Vice President George Pernsteiner to review the technology plan produced by ACAIT. This is a perfect task for TLTR because of the broad representation and the flexibility of meetings.

I am trying to recruit faculty, staff and students to review the university's strategic plan for technology from the point of view of how it relates to teaching and learning activities at PSU. I would like to find as many people as possible to comment on the report and I would also like to find a few people to form a "working group" to help me sort through the responses and write a summary report.

The review and report writing schedule is given below:

Time Activity
October

send out invitations

receive acceptances and suggestions of other people to join the working group

distribute the ACAIT report with suggested categories for issues

November

compile initial comments from working group

schedule several meetings for discussions based on these comments

meetings at different times so that more people can attend

December second round of compilation that focuses in on the top 10 issues
January submit "top 10" to ACAIT, OAA, and CAE for administrative review
February

develop list of target faculty and groups for dissemination in a f2f meeting and with email

for each target include a subset of the top 10, importance and resources that will help them understand the issue

March

begin active dissemination phase, use all possible venues including coffee places, brew pubs, etc.

send comments back to working group

April continue active dissemination
May final f2f meeting to compile progress, comments and progress report

I have attached a copy of the strategic plan. I would appreciate any comments that you have. You can write directly on the manuscript and give that back to me at CAE office, or send me an email (rueterj@pdx.edu) with your comments. Whatever is easier for you.

I am also looking for a few volunteers to form the working group. If you are interested please contact me by email at rueterj@pdx.edu.
