Send to rueterj@pdx.edu

a. What were the different plants you saw in the two different zones (natural and city)? Be sure to spot Trilliums, Sequoia, and large fir trees as well as a host of invasives (ivy, holly, black berry, horse tail, and others).

b. How do you think these plants "fit" in to each environment, i.e. what role did they play in each zone.

c. Comment on the view going up the Marquam trail. Is this what Orr calls a decent forest?

d. Comment on the compact nature of Portland as seen from 16th and Upper Hall.

e. Listen for sounds during the walk (bird, cars, wind in the trees). What are the dominant sounds in the different zones. Can you tell where the car sounds are coming from all the time?
