This is a short paper (3 to 5 pages) that addresses:

1. the general pros and cons of interdisciplinary research
2. some specific benefits and costs as it relates to our area of research
3. how you plan to build in some multidisplinary, interdisciplinary, or transdisciplinary work into your dissertation

The main audience for this paper should be me and your colleagues in the class. A well written paper would provide some of your insight to others in the class and some guidance for the PhD program director. That insight maybe implied, you don't have to directly make recommendations for the program or other students.

Be prepared to give a short preview of this on the last day of class (Nov 29th).
