Projects and Groups

1. Aeroponics/aquaponics

Create a small scale apparatus that uses solar power to run a pump that recirculates water and possibly powers the lights. Aeroponics/aquaponics can be used to grow produce. This technology could be used in urban agriculture.

Expected design challenges:

Team members: Emmaly, Patrick G-R, Ryan, Alana, Jack

2. Integrated greenhouse

Combine solar power, water collection, and other features into a personal scale greenhouse. This could be sited in a private home garden and used to start plants and then provide water for the growth season.

Expected design challenges:

Team members: Rio, Derek

3. Water collection and distribution from a house roof

Collect water off of a house and provide power to pump that water for various uses.

Expected design challenges:

Team member(s): Kelsey

4. Portable water pumping and storage for ecosystem restoration

Often, ecosystem restoration requires temporary watering of newly planted plants. A small storage and solar power unit could be used to provide this water in remote areas.

Expected design challenges:

Team members: Michelle, John, Kody, Myranda, Coleman
