Week 9 - problems that require solutions at large time and space scales, for example, preserving biodiversity, need local parks and large reserves and buffers

Green vs. Grey infrastructure - you need to be clear about this

ambiguous use of the word "green"

some good examples:

• green roofs
• treatment ponds and sloughs

some bad examples:

• "green" cars - not infrastructure

good questions and points

• Can we use both together?
• Is it ever better for the environment to have grey?
• Are the costs equivalent?
• How do we learn to employ this technology at large scales? It can't just be trial and error.
