Approaches to problems

 

Themes today:

Different approaches work better (or worse) depending on the knowledge, control and values associated with the problem.

Sometimes values can be dealt with by finding common ground.

Sometimes a market approach can help negotiate values disparities.

 

Comment on the in-class assessment:

We all may have world views that we aspire to, rather than actually are able to live fully.

This is one consequence of having to live our daily lives under multiple constraints and conflicting values.

I think there will always be inherent inconsistencies when you try to live a value-drive lifestyle (such as the worldviews would portray) in a modern post-industrial society.
