Day  Two: South Cove/Cape Arago
On the way to South Cove/Cape Arago, we pulled out at the overlook for Simpson Reef/Shell Island.  There was a small sandy beach covered with sea lions on the island (top two pictures), and at the rocky edge of the island were a few harbor seals (to the right).
A beautiful wave-cut platform is exposed at South Cove Cape Arago.  The various nooks and crannies in the platform provide homes for all the little tidepools creatures that Lynn wanted to examine.  Lynn took the biology crew way way out, while the geology crew stayed closer to shore to look at all the neat features in the rock.
The next two pages show what we saw.
