My past and
current projects
I'm interested in how a seemingly stable format for communication -language structures- are co-constructed in the process of organizing face-to-face human interactions. I use conversation analysis to show how that works. Currently, I am involved in research on: -documenting and reporting on language use in metro Portland (with LAMP), especially language use and variation on the Portland State campus -the reflexive relationship of the environment, mobility, digital technology, language, and learning (with503dc) -tasting practices -the relationship between prosody, gesture, and language structure I am co-editor (w/Søren Eskildsen) of Routledge Advances in Second Language Studies.
