Discussion:
Be sure to use the last 5 minutes of chapter meetings for input from members. Officers should arrive 10 minutes early (11:50 to touch base).
Ask David Jimerson if he would be willing to present his lecture on "The Changing Male Voice" at noon on Thursday March 1.
Ideas for future chapter meetings and presentations include
inviting Dr. Tuttle to come to speak on band,
Connie Lorimor on strings,
Darrell Grant on teaching jazz improvisation or how to put a jazz band together,
inviting former students who are now involved in education such as Jason Ogan,
inviting James DePriest to speak (next year),
and a party at the end of this year.
Short term goals for this year include:
securing presentations for March, April and May
end of the year potluck
create long-term goals
hold election for next years president
find out if SOC has a current constitution for our chapter
communicate to all members through e-mail by the end of the year,
the treasury is not just for snacks
form a mission statement patterned after the one on page 1 of the Collegiate Chapter Handbook
Ask for a CMENC box in the Music Office
Also get an SOC box to connect us with the university as a whole
Be proactive in getting future educators who are instrumentalists involved
Encourage involvement and interaction with Mount Hood music students
(Long-term goals to be set at a future meeting)
