CMENC Chapter #664
at Portland State University

Meeting 12/2/1999 12:00pm
Ratification of Constitution

Present at the Meeting: Chris Adams (president), Betsi Middleton (vice-president), Ken Wheeler, Joan Best (secretary), Melanie Smith (treasurer), Katie Simon, Lee Alexander, David Jimerson (advisor)

Meeting Called to Order: 12:06 p.m.

Discussion:

  1. Discussion of constitution. Constitution was revised to present to the Student Organization Council for consideration of our CMENC chapter becoming a member. Board feels that it may not be in our best interest to join for the following reasons:
    1. We do not qualif y for money because we do not serve the interests of the entire school.
    2. Setting up a bank account through them requires a budget to be in place for next year, and it takes a good amount of time to withdraw money from the account-it may not be necessary, and it may not meet our needs.
    3. We put our website on our own account because it takes a minimum of 2 weeks to update our information through them.
    4. They no longer offer office space or telephone numbers to student groups.
    5. It is too late to be published in their directory. The consensus of the group present was that we should hold off ratifying the constitution until we had met with our SOC advisor.
  2. Both Ken Wheeler and Betsi Middleton have access to a digital camera that we may use to put pictures on our website. Webmaster Ryan Brown will contact them about this prospect.
  3. We do not yet have an agenda for the January OMEA convention. There will be a COLLEGIATE BREAKFAST and possibly at collegiate bowling get together hosted by U of O's CMENC chapter. We will also need people to volunteer to represent PSU in setting up at the convention. They will be rewarded with a free banquet.
