CMENC Chapter #664 CMENC meeting minutes Oct. 10, 2002
Noon to 1pm
Lincoln Hall room 301
Meeting Agenda:

1. Explanation of MENC and its organization CMENC is a student group for students who want to become music educators, whether in the public school system or in the private sector. The PSU chapter focuses on getting into GTEP, the graduate program for teaching credentials, and on issues concerning how to teach music.
  • a. A contact sheet was created.We passed around a sheet for everyone present to put his or her name, phone number and email. We will start emailing everyone pertinent information.
  • b. Please pay dues of $19 due by Oct. 24th. Membership applications will be in a manila envelope on the bulletin board across from Professor Jimerson's office (321LH). No cash will be accepted, please write a check. Who to make the check out to will be on the application form. Please return the application and check to Professor Jimerson by Friday, October 25.

    2. Introduction of Professor Jimerson David Jimerson is the music education advisor and the sponsoring professor for CMENC. His office is located in Lincoln Hall, room 312.

    3. Election and appointment of officers:

    • President: Ruth Elison
    • Vice President: Ronnie Harris
    • Secretary: Juliet Easlick
    • Co-Treasurers: Elizabeth Joo, Lindsey Kirkman
  • 4. Calendar for 2002-2003 year: Northwest Division Conference of MENC, Feb. 14-16 This conference will be in Portland at the Convention center. We will have a booth there. The cost to have the booth is $400. David Jimerson is working on getting the university to pay for it. The Chamber Choir will be in New York at this time.

    5. We decided on definite meeting time.The next meeting times are at noon on Thursdays, November 14th and December 5th in room 135.

    6. We brainstormed on forums, speakers, etc. Forums that we would like to have in the future include but are not limited to: job finding and resume writing, instrument repair, conducting, GTEP, Vocal Kodai, having recent graduates come and share their experiences, and setting up a studio for private lessons. We decided to have someone present from the Graduate college of teaching about GTEP at our next meeting in November.
