GIS II Final Exam Questions
Answer ALL questions. Your
answers must be typed and any relevant diagram neatly
drawn. Please make an effort to be thorough yet concise. Your answer
should be no more than one page per question (single-spaced), not including
graphics. Use all resources available to you including texts, manuals, lab
exercises, and help files. Please cite the references appropriately. A hardcopy of the exam is due on March 14 before class.
- Describe the tasks involved in
your final (group) project and your role and contributions for each of
these tasks. Please write down your project title at the beginning of your
answer. (5 points)
- Describe the steps involved in
using a Kriging method to perform spatial interpolation. Include the
discussions on the concept of spatial interpolation, empirical and modeled
(or fitted) semivariograms, isotropy versus anisotropy, and searching
neighborhood. (10 points)
- Describe the beneficial and
adverse effects of spatial autocorrelation on geographic analysis and
two quantitative (statistical) indices one can use to detect spatial
autocorrelation in geographic data. (10 points)
