This is an abridged article, which means that it has been shortened from the original. You may see abridged dictionaries and other reference works that have been shortened to make them more usable and portable. These are perfectly acceptable and fairly commonplace.However, beware of works of fiction that have been abridged. Like any work of art, novels that have been abridged do not let you see the whole picture. (Imagine a painting or a piece of music that has been abridged!)
