Final Exam/Assignment
Geog
366 – Historical Geography of
Winter
Term, 2005
The purpose of this final assignment is to send you back through the content of the course - Weeks 1 through 9 - the text book, the Instructor's Notes, and the class discussions. Your task is three-fold; the first task helps to shape the others: (1) Write a course description for this class - do not re-write my description; I expect that you can do it better than I can. The course description must be no more than 60 words long; otherwise it will not fit in the PSU Bulletin. (2) Sift back through all your course material. Select four "dates/events/concepts/whatever" that you feel are the most significant in the historical geography of the United States. Rank them in order of priority - which was the #1 most important, #2 most important, etc. (3) Write four essays - one on each of the four selected "whatevers" - each essay of approximately 250 words in length. And please stick closely to this length requirement. Your essays should summarize the "whatever," should give the pertinent facts, and should focus on the significance in terms of historical geography. Note: My one restriction here is that all your selections must be post-1492. Due Date: This assignment is due in class during the final exam period, Tuesday, March 15. Bring refreshments to share and we will have a lively and stimulating discussion as we determine the Top 10 of all time.
