The two primary forms of machine learning are supervised and unsupervised. Cluster analysis, the primary form of unsupervised learning, identifies homogeneous groups of samples embedded within a larger data set. A classic application is market segmentation, the identification of groups of similar customers according to the products they buy and the time they shop.
