In book form, "Wie, bitte?" was a short (350 pp.) proficiency-oriented text package with lowered grammatical ceiling. The computer-based version is even shorter and has a still lower grammatical ceiling. Target proficiency of top learners is ACTFL Intermediate-Mid in speaking and listening. "Wie, bitte?" and the related Portland State University first-year German course were the prototypes for the Spanish materials which won the Pew Grant (see above).
