Wie, bitte? Introductory German for Proficiency (First-Year German Textbook) John Wiley, 1988. ISBN 0-471-84844-1. Now and independent, computer-based package (www & cd-rom). In book form, "Wie, bitte?" was a short (350 pp.) proficiency-oriented text package with lowered grammatical ceiling. The computer-based version is even shorter and has a still lower grammatical ceiling. Target proficiency of top learners is ACTFL Intermediate-Mid in speaking and listening. "Wie, bitte?" and the related Portland State University first-year German course were the prototypes for the Spanish materials which won the Pew Grant (see above). |
