Cosmo Courseware is a collection of proficiency-oriented, realia-rich language learning activities for Macintosh (Hypercard v.2.2 or later; some modules as standalones). Several modules are essentialy complete and are in use in courses at Portland State University and Linfield College. Others are just in the demonstration stage.

The courseware is not yet ready for commercial distribution, but I'd like to describe it here, offer free downloads of German listening and writing software and of audio clips for German and Spanish, and get comments. The full-version files are too large to download efficiently over the Web. To discuss obtaining actual working samples of "beta"-version activities, contact the producer (William B. Fischer [www & e-mail], Portland State University, Oregon, USA). After I find out how much more space I can have on the Web server, I may be able to offer some demos as Acrobat .pdf files.

Cosmo Courseware was designed to accompany the textbooks Wie, bitte? (first-year German) and ¿Cómo? first-year Spanish), but it could be used independently at all language levels. Currently there are various sample modules for English, Spanish, German, French, Russian, Swedish, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, Korean, and Chinese.

	Cosmo Lexikon Multilingual talking pictorial dictionary. Context-based line drawings (street, hygiene, etc.) with up to 50 items per context. User mouses to hear & see the word & other linguistic information, and (with proper equipment) can record own voice to compare with those of the native speakers.
