• fällig am 12.10 (Mittwoch! - heute!): Niederschrift von dem Torriani-Interview - wie seine Karriere begann (1:55 "das Wichtigste…" - 2:34 "…Hotel Viktoria") - ; Übersetzung von diesem Auszug (NICHT vom ganzen Interview!), wie auch Ihre engl. Zusammenfassung (diesmal vom ganzen Interview) ist am 17.10 fällig (in der Zwischenzeit bekommen Sie die vollständige Niederschrift)
• fällig am 17.10. (Montag): zweisprachige Beschreibung Ihres Deutsch-Studiums: Wann, wie, wo usw. Sie Ihre Deutschkenntenisse erworben haben (etwa je 1 Seite, in deutscher UND englischer Sprache). Geben Sie Tatsachen ("I took three years of Spanish in high school), aber beschreiben Sie auch die Umstände und Lernmethoden ("We sat in the language lab twice a week and repeated meaningless phrases"), und bewerten Sie Ihre Erfahrung und Kompetenzen ("I was bored most of the time, but I think I actually learned survival skills, and then improved a lot when I spent a month in Austria").
• Use the German skills list (Bewertungsblatt [0018) to choose the skill area for your written and spoken presentations that will show that you have an employable skill and can express yourself about it in German. You can propose some other skill area - discuss it with me.

• Begin searching, using (quoted) "ich über mich" and smart keywods, for a person in the German-speaking world who shares your educational, career, and even personal interests. This is preparation for assignments where you will translate that person's résumé and use its vocabulary to enrich your own résumé in German.
• Explore my conference presentation about SpeakEasy, so that you will better understand how SpeakEasy will fit into German 301-302.
New:
• Next week's topic is "Am Arbeitzplatz: Was man tut, Sozialverhalten, Sprachsonderheiten" - read around in Nees, think about the everyday activities of the workplace (in general, yours specifically), and also the "culture" of the workplace: the customs, myths, taboos

• First "Reference Grammar" assignment, in conjunction with "Meine Zukunft"
• Second listening assignment: transcribe and translate the news item about Heinz Nixdorf (g00082); due next Wednesday, 19 October, with usual stages: 1) transcribe and translate as much as you can by 19 October; 2) whenever you turn that in, you'll receive the full transcription and can then use it to finish your translation.
