Dr. Coleman's CV

Dr. Coleman is interested in clinical practice as a practitioner, researcher and educator. His research interests include depression, PTSD, suicide, personality and psychotherapy, multicultural practice, psychotherapy process and outcome research, stigmatization, and the training and professional development of clinical practitioners.

Current research projects include study of suicide prevention efforts, childhood grief, naturalistic study of therapeutic process and outcome, and children’s stigmatization of other children with mental health problems. Dr. Coleman has studied emotional process in cognitive behavioral therapy and interpersonal therapy. He has also participated in research center based studies of the training of child welfare workers, and the implementation of welfare reform.

Dr. Coleman maintained a clinical practice in community mental health settings for over 10 years after receiving his MSW degree. He is interested in clinical theory and the use of clinical papers to advance the understanding and practice of therapy.
