Biographical Details:
Amanda Rhoda Smith was born January 27, 1772, in Warren, Litchfield County, Connecticut. The names of her parents are not known with any certainty. Indeed, some researchers identify them as Peabody and Hannah Smith, but others identify her father only as Annan Smith. She married Edward Thompson, perhaps, about 1791, and accompanied him and two of their sons, Ezra and Julius, as they migrated westward. Of course, as the United States expanded into "unoccupied" territory during the early nineteenth century this was a common occurrence. Amanda Rhoda Smith Thompson appears to have still been living at the time of the census in 1840; however, no subsequent record of her has been found. Therefore, it seems plausible that she died sometime between 1840 and 1850.Source Citations:
