Biographical Details:

The oldest daughter of James M. and Bettie Johnson was Elsie Elizabeth, born in Gentry County, Missouri, presumably near Island City in Jackson Township, on October 4, 1896.  She married Clint Cooper in 1913 and they were the parents of five children, viz., Charles, Gene, Marcella, Duane, and Forrest.  Elsie was the only daughter of Jim and Bettie Johnson that ever married; however, she and Clint divorced about 1940 and she then married "Trapper" Martin a couple of years later.  Sadly, Clint was a victim of violence in 1947 and died from a gunshot wound to the head by "hands unknown".  Elsie Johnson Cooper Martin died in 1970 and is buried in the High Ridge Cemetery in Stanberry.
