Guided Journal Assignments
Goals of Assignment: By doing the reading in advance of class, and committing some of your thoughts about the reading to paper, you will be better prepared to discuss the reading assignment in class. In addition, the reading and writing will improve your critical thinking, By participating in class discussions, you will be engaged in active learning and develop listening and speaking skills needed for career success.
Description of Assignment: There are six articles in the assigned reading for this class. You are required to write a one-page synopsis of each of five readings (your choice of readings.) The synopses should each include key points and types of evidence used to support those points.
Format of Assignment: Each Guided Journal assignment should be no more than one typed, double-spaced page.
Due Date: In class, on the date the summarized reading is due. No late Guided Journal entries will be accepted.
Percentage of Course Grade: 5% for each of the assignments (25% total)
Assessment: Each Guided Journal entry will be assessed for content, writing, and format. No late Guided Journal entry will be accepted for credit.
