Ball Pythons shed their skin and grow every 7-9 months. Their skin peels off in an important process in their lives. By shedding, my python not only grows in size, but becomes a more mature, healthier snake. How does this relate to education? Simply put, school lasts for relatively the same amount of time it takes for my Ball Python to shed. We go to school about 9 months out of the year and spend about 3 months on summer vacation. After 9 months, we have completed yet another year in school; a year of education that propels my growing process and maturity. It is as though we shed a layer of skin each school year and learn things about the world and ourselves we never knew. This process is in a continuum and we go through this growing mechanism until our very last breath, just like the snake.
