2011: 12 Jan, Thursday Some of you have contacted me about texts on reserve in the library. I was supposed to get extra copies from the publisher but these have not yet arrived. If nothing shows up by the beginning of next week I will put on reserve my older copy (previous edition). 17 Jan, Tuesday The week 2 lecture outline powerpoint is up. I put a copy of the previous edition text book on reserve in the library. They say 24-48 hours before it is ready to be checked out. 22 Jan, Sunday The lecture set for week 3 is on the web site. Still needs some tweaking due to font substitution issues, so expect minor changes later in the week. Thursday, January 26 Good news - bad news. The bad news is that I was just reminded I have to attend a campus-wide committee meeting tomorrow morning, from 9-noon and so will have to cancel lecture. The good news is, well, that there will be no lecture tomorrow.Sorry!! I will also send an email to everyone about this. Thursday, February 2: Exam day tomorrow. Don't forget: 1. scantron form 2. pencil 3. pin code (goes on scantron instead of name) YIKES!!!! I believe I forgot to give out the codes. Will do that tomorrow. Saturday, 4 February Scores are posted. Well... we didn't exactly ace the exam :( I am contemplating putting some of this material on the 3rd exam and making it comprehensive. 1st part of lecture set for week 4 is posted. Thursday, 9 Feb. 1600 Hrs: The lecture notes for Friday (tomorrow) posted. This is week 4b. Sunday, 12 Feb. The lecture for next week is on the web site. Thursday, 23 Feb. Exam 2 scores are posted. Thursday, 23 Feb. 1700 Hrs: The rest of the sensory system lecture notes are up. These are listed as "week 6". Never mind that we are finishing week 7! Monday, 27 Feb. As per the announcement this morning, there will be no lecture on Wednesday. I have to attend a university meeting from 9:00 until 1:00 PM. Enjoy the break! Wednesday, 14 March. In case you were not in lecture recently, here is deal for the rest of the term: 1. Final exam is Tuesday at 8:00 AM. Bring Scantron. 2. The final exam covers from the visual system to the end of the lecture today. 3. The only material from the book you have to learn is that which matches the lectures actually given. The syllabus lists the cerebellum, memory and perhaps some other stuff but you don't have to know it if not covered in lecture. 4. There is a very low but finite possibility of having an additional small exam offered at the time of the final. It would cover material from the first part of the course. Do not study for this!!! If I do make up some questions they would be extra credit only. 5. If you turned in a scantron to get an extra point from exam 2, I have taken care of that change, but not posted it on the web site. Not to worry, though. 6. There will be no lecture on Friday. This is the last of the all-day library committee meetings. Finally, apologies if you came by for office hours today and did not find me. I forgot to mention that I took the guest speaker in Animal Behavior out to lunch after that class, which ends at 1:00 PM. So I was late getting back to my office. Saturday, 17 March 2012. 11:15 AM: A practice exam 3 is posted. I'll get around to putting up answers by and by. Wednesday, 21 March 2012. 1600 Hrs: The tentative final scores and grades are up. It is tentative because there are some minor fixes yet to do relative to grad student projects. Out of the 33 students who have complete records, 11 got an A or A- (33% !), and all but 8 got an A or B (76% !!). So pretty good job, all... and yes, I know the final was challenging.
