Bi 462/562 Neurophysiology

This course introduces you to the fabulous world of neuroscience. We cover basic function of the components of the nervous system (neurons & glia), the organization of nervous systems (brains and so forth), various example neural pathways for sensory processing and motor output, influences of drugs on the neurotransmission, gender differences in brains, and... whew - well lotsa good stuff.

A pdf file for each lecture, containing all the slides for the lecture, will be posted on this web site under the sidebar "lecture outlines". The ones you find now (as of the update date of this page are from 2010 and will be replaced with a new set. So please don't download them all now. Week by week I will be swapping out the files.

The text for the course is::

    Purves et al:     "Neuroscience" , 5th edition (Sinauer) .

A copy will be placed on reserve in the library.

Lectures are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 to 11:05.

Randy Zelick (your instructor) can be found in SRTC 232B (was called Science Building II). I am often, but not always, available for drop-in chats. You may send an email to set up an appointment, or to ask questions. If the answer is not too elaborate, I will respond via email so you don't even have to stop by.

Also, I will have regular office hours when you are welcome to stop by with no appointment necessary (but it is first come first serve):

    Tuesday 11:00 - 12:00, Wednesday 13:30 - 14:30.
