Portland State University 2002-Present:
As the Special Assistant to the Vice President of Finance and Administration (FADM), I have completed a wide range of projects. Here is a partial list with links to the finished work.
  • Staff to the Campus Safety and Security Review Committee and author of the final report- This group is responding to the OUS Chancellor's request to report on the current preparedness of PSU's Campus Security force and to suggest changes. read the final report
  • I just finished a promotional video for ARTSplash, an arts integration teachers training program I run through PSU's Graduate School of Education for the Portland Public Schools system. view the promotional video

  • FADM representative to the Sustainability Committee. Here is a video I recently completed for one of their projects entitled "Focus the Nation."
  • Designing database that maps PSU degrees to Oregon's Economic Development strategies. Here is the test site for that project
  • Working on "Knowledge Cities" initiative with Commissioner Sam Adams. We are gathering data for this now and here is a survey tool we are developing for that purpose.
  • Co-direction of ARTSplash, an arts integration teachers training program funded by the US Dept. of Education. here's that project

  • Human Resources Sustainability Training Module- I developed this module with Michele Crim, the University's Sustainability Coordinator. It is used to introduce all new hires to PSU's Sustainability efforts.
  • Drawings done for the PSU Facilities Department to illustrate what a PSU brew pub would look like.
  • Recycling- I worked with Alisa Kane, the Recycling Graduate Assistant for Sustainability to redesign the Recycling program. It is now managed on campus, employs students and is better integrated into the campus culture. We also created the first version of the Recycling Website which has now been incorporated into the Sustainability Website.
  • Business Energy Tax Credits- This presentation is used by the Facilities department at Portland State University to educate administrators considering the development of new facilities on campus.
  • Space Needs Assessment Committee: On this project I was staff to an adhoc committee tasked with developing a report on the current and future space needs of the University. My duties included writing draft reports as well as gathering, analyzing and presenting data to the committee.
  • Budget and Priorities Committee: This committee was formed to develop a method for prioritizing budget expenditures and adjustment made necessary by a cuts in the University's operating funds. My tasks included gathering data, taking minutes, writing draft documents as well as providing general support to the committee.
  • Project Graphics- These are examples of logos and project graphics created for such programs as an Alternative Funding Strategy, the Tribal Administration Program and others.
  • The Spanish Curriulum Archive- A collaboration with the Spanish Department- Funded by Portland State University-
  • ARTSplash- A collaboration with Portland Public Schools and the North West Regional Education Lab- Funded by the Federal Department of Education-

Projects with the Grad. School of Education: (As a Graduate Research Assistant in Public Administration)

  • Designed and produced Graphics and html for The Civil War Through a Child's Eye - a unit of curriculum by Dr. Micki Caskey which is in the American Memory collection of the Library of Congress. View Work
  • With Drs. Micki Caskey and Theresa Rapida, designed, wrote and produced Iroquois Confederacy and the US Constitution. This unit of middle school curriculum is both a website and a CD. View Work

Mt. Hood Community College 1998-2000
I was a tenure track faculty member responsible for Theater instruction, Design and Technical Direction and management of the Associates Degree program in Technical Theater. The courses I taught included the technical theater sequence, theater history, lighting design, make-up, sound and scenic design. Each year I designed and managed all technical aspects of three main stage productions, while also serving as the Facility manager and event coordinator for the departments’ 500 and 100 seat theaters.

Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) 1996-1998
While at OMSI, I was the Technical Coordinator for Traveling Exhibits. I was responsible for maintaining the physical condition of the largest Science Museum Traveling Exhibits program in the U.S. with 26 exhibits valued at over 14 million dollars. This job entailed traveling with some of the exhibits and overseeing their installation as well as project managing refurbishment and updates as they became necessary

Clackamas Community College 1990-1996:
As a full time instructor in the Theater Arts Department, I was the principle scenic and lighting designer as well as the Technical Director for the College. I taught six classes a year in basic sound, lighting, stage construction and execution and designed and built three major productions a year. This work entailed managing all technical aspects of departmental productions, including scheduling, budgeting and coordinating the work of paid sub contractors, student crews and community volunteers.
