Ethics
and Social Responsibility
Last term I defined this as:
The implications of our actions are something that any responsible
person must consider. Our fundamental notions of ethical behavior
are our drive to be socially responsible. The notion that
,as a society, we should take care of one another is important to
consider.
This term I have reconsidered:
Ethics and social responsibility are things that we are taught from a
very young age (most of us, at least). We know that it is wrong to steal
or to kill. Why are these things wrong? Because society would
disintigrate is people did this. As we grow older we begin to integrate
these values
into our very conciousness. As a social animal, we have the capacity
for sympathy and compassion. These simple capacities form the foundation
for the existence of society.
