1.  Thermophotovoltaic generator converts thermal radiation directly into electricity with photovoltaic cells
     A.  Consists of a heat source, a radiation emitter, an optical focussing and filter system and special photovoltaic cells
                  1. Heat is re-radiated by the           emitter as light
                  2. Photovoltaic cells of     gallim antimonide convert the radiation into electricity. The band gap is 0.7eV which is lower than silicon cells
3.  This means that we can convert light which is further into the infrared spectral range
