My Castle’s Rockin’
One of my dreams ever since
I’ve heard and seen movies and pictures about Las Vegas was to one day
go there. It seems like so much entertainment is available and that
you could have so much fun. The loud music, the different styles
of music and all the pretty lights, and water fountains. It seems
like such a perfect place to go on a vacation if you would like to be entertained.
Well now I want to tell of
a lady that during her youth was very interested in music and having a
career in show business. Her name was Alberta Hunter, you probably
don’t know who that is but either did I. During here life she traveled
very much to many different places around the world looking for work where
it was available. She went to Europe, Chicago New York, and where
ever show business was going good. She needed work because music
and singing was her life. Until one day when she had to give it up.
No one wanted her no more and she couldn’t find work. So she went
to school and became a nurse. She was a nurse for 21 years and never
was late one single day. Now you can tell this women had determination.
She wanted to be good at what she did no matter what it was. Singing,
caring, or just being herself she tried to do everything to the best of
her ability.
After 21 years of being a
nurse they made her retire at the age of 70. Or at least they thought
she was 70 but she was actually 82. When they made her retire she
was very upset because nursing was her life. But it still wasn’t
the end of her career because a producer was looking for Alberta Hunter
and some other older famous music starts to put an album together of the
old music they used to play back in the day. So this producer found
Alberta Hunter and she agreed to sing at the age of 82, and after that
album she never stopped singing until her death at the age of 89.
Now just by reading what I
wrote so far, you would think that I read it out of a biography or a book,
right? Well not really, this interesting story that I saw in a film
called “My Castle’s Rockin’” was the most interesting and entertaining
film that I have seen for a long time. I recommend this film as a
must see if you want to learn about the life a great singer and you want
to be entertained. But don’t take my word for it, see it for yourself.
