MTH 254 Calculus IV.
Instructor: Dr. S.Preston
Office: NH, M316.
Tel: 725-3637.
E-mail:serge@pdx.edu.
Office hours: Tu, Th., 12:00-1:00.
Textbook: Jon Rogawski. Calculus.
Covered: Chapters 14-17 (with some material skipped).
Grade
is based on:
1.
Quizzes (open books/notes).
One-two question quizzes with 20-30 min time
will be
given almost every class.
Answer alone is
not
sufficient in quizzes!!
You should explain how you get it.
2.
Midterm (open book, possibly home taken),
Without
Midterm there will be no grade for the course.
3.
Final (open books/notes).
Very important. Without final there will be no grade
for the
course.
Splitting between these three parts approximately is 100%= 45% +15%
+40%.
4* . Class participation, questions, and
comments.
I like when students ask reasonable questions
and make
reasonable comments
and value
them very
high.
Correspondingly, if your class participation
will be
well noticeable, extra points
will be
added to your
score and that may favorably influence your grade.
_____________________________________________________________
Homework.
You
can do homework individually or in small groups. Homework
will be
collected in time
and used as
the proof of your work on the material rather
then for grading. You are very
welcome to
come and discuss homework problem in my office
hours.
Homework is
not included into the grade.
